Psalms 119:103 (KJV)–How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!


This piece was inspired by a season where I was studying the prophetess Deborah. Her name in Hebrew translates to “bee”, and the name Deborah is the only “bee” reference in the Bible where it is mentioned in singular form. (You can find her story in Judges 4-5.) During that study, I truly felt how sweet the Word could be.


Darker honey is sweeter because it is raw and unfiltered. It contains a vast array of nutrients, and much of that is lost if it gets filtered in pasteurization. I believe the Word is that way; we get so much more out of it when we study it in its natural form than what sermons can teach us. I think that is why it is so important to go beyond getting fed once a week. Reading your Bible daily, and trying to understand it from its original context and dialect brings greater revelation and understanding.
