Isaiah 35:1 (AMP)–The wilderness and the dry land will be glad; The Arabah (desert) will shout in exultation and blossom Like the autumn crocus.
I get inspiration from many things, and this piece has an interesting origin story. A friend of mine asked me to accompany her to the craft store, as she wanted to do some painting projects of her own and wanted my insight on products and such. We started talking about her decor and she showed me her preferred palette, which gave me inspo for this piece. While I love these colors, I haven’t really used this combo in my work, which tends to be more vibrant. But we need the subtle sometimes, the undercurrent which brings the remarkable to the surface.
Such is what the verse means to me. There is something deeply hopeful about a long-barren place suddenly able to give life and growth. A desert becoming a spring…what a wonder!
