The DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, generally referred to as a “DD 214”, is a document of the United States Department of Defense, issued upon a military service member’s retirement, separation, or discharge from active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States.  One Dollar of every sale of this pattern will be donated to the “Tunnels to Towers” Foundation.

Note: Instructions are written in English. All colorwork sections are exclusively charted. 

Difficulty level is intermediate. Requires knowledge of increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, performing an invisible join, or knitting flat and seaming. Also requires the ability to work from a chart using 2 colors.

Instruction for 2 Sizes:

Adult Small fits 19”-21” head 8.5” x 8 .25” when measured flat 

Adult Large fits 22” – 24” head 9.5” x 9.5” when measured flat

Yarn required:

This hat is knit up using 2 colors of DK weight yarn. 

Needles, Tools and Notions: 

US 4  (3.5 mm) 16″ Circular Knitting Needle 

US 5 (3.75 mm) 16″ Circular Knitting Needle

Set of US 5(3.75 mm) Double Point Needles (DPNs) 

Stitch Marker

Darning Needle

Faux Fur Pompom (if desired)
